Very well known to Bentley Driver's Club members, this distinctive 4 ½ Litre has been owned by aficionados of the marque and the last owner has owned more vintage Bentleys than anyone else on the planet - we gave up courting when we got to 100.
An admirable touring Bentley, restored to this form in the 1960s by Tony Townshend who sold it to the successor of his Bentley restoration business which became well known known as Elmdown Engineering.
Thus it was splendidly maintained and well driven and has subsequently been enjoyed on tours and rallies across the world,
This encompasses everything a Cricklewood Bentley should. Stable on the road, with surefooted handling and a wonderful sound coupled with the robustness of proper Bentley engineering, here is a delight to the driver and the spectator in equal measure. When driving through central London one hears or lip reads the word "Bentley" on every street corner, pedestrian crossing, or side street.
How wonderful that a company which closed its doors for the last time 94 years ago can engender so much admiration from people all over the world.
Matching numbered, with a documented history from new, this fine old Bentley demonstrates so admirably the quality of Mr. Bentley's engineering ability and that of the loyal team who gave respectful and devoted service at Cricklewood.
