Owned, driven and campaigned for over forty years by one of the most notable vintage Bentley owners, the world famous horologist George Daniels.

In his lifetime Dr. George Daniels created 37 individually handmade timepieces and is revered by horologists and collectors across the world.

His knowledge and interest in vintage Bentleys and of Tim Birkin was extensive. He had owned the prototype Blower Bentley YU 3250, the Birkin single seater Blower Bentley UU5871 and Alfa Romeo 8C raced by Birkin and Earl Howe. This was a serious collector.

With his skill, passion and extensive knowledge of both the marque and of Birkin, Dr Daniels purchased in the early 1960s what he described in his autobiography as a very dull saloon with coach work which blunted the performance of the Bentley engine and improved it to meet his requirements. These improvements involved Dr Daniels, with assistance from a close friend, pushing the half completed project through south London from a rented garage to his new home involving a trip past the local police station and over a railway bridge whereupon extra reinforcements in the form of supporters from a nearby Crystal Palace football match helped him on his way.

As one of the last 4.5 Litres to leave the Cricklewood works and therefore being fitted with the specific heavier Blower crankshaft, this was his ideal Bentley. He knew exactly what he had bought. The later heavier crankshaft was designed for the supercharger, should a customer not wish to pay the extra 10 percent purchase price then the drive spigot for the supercharger was removed. It is not possible to supercharge the standard engine.

Continually maintaining and developing this Bentley with relentless enthusiasm, Daniels commissioned an Amherst Villiers ribbed supercharger which was manufactured to the original drawings. His extensive knowledge, matched with ability and an eye for detail were to pay dividends. He also understood the intricacies of the Vanden Plas coachwork which had details unique to the Birkin team cars.

Continuously maintained and driven, not only by George Daniels, but by it's subsequent custodian of twenty years, this iconic Bentley provides the full vintage motoring experience.

With an effortless delivery of power and immense torque it is possible to drive this Blower in top gear from under ten miles an hour to over ten times that figure. The driver will find the handling remarkably sharp, the ride not bone shaking - in fact very supple, the gearchange straightforward and positive, the brakes reassuring and the whole experience enthralling.

This is a vintage Bentley capable of taking huge distances in its stride.

An unrepeatable Blower Bentley with continuous ownership history from new which would be welcome at any event and which provides huge enjoyment to the driver and spectator in equal measure.
